I think it's the weather...we have had a really wet and cold winter this year. My yard is just soppy. I know how you feel. My neighbors are crappy too!! Maybe we should buy property beside each other so we can have good neighbors!!!! :)

Is anyone else dragging their butt to do anything garden-wise? I haven't done a single thing! I would like to plan a much smaller garden this year but so far I haven't accomplished more than thinking about it.....

We've had sooo much rain that we can't till the ground. Over 7 inches so far this year. I did start some tomato seeds...then Baxter and Pita decided to eat the seedlings. So I've restarted some more tomato seeds and hopefully I can keep them hid from the darn cats... :grrr:

I've got cabbage, brussel sprouts, and brocoli in the ground... wait.... 2 out of those three, but I'm not sure which 2. (This always happens!)

I had some lettuce out there, too. Between the rain and work and a host of other things, I haven't seen the garden in over two weeks. I might not have anything but weeds out there.

We planted some stuff today. Most of it was started plants but I had to go with that or nothing since we didn't start seeds. We're also scaling WAAAAY back this year for a few reasons, the biggest being that we didn't start sooner.

I planted some cauliflower, eggplant, jalapeno and tomato that were started and carrot seeds and onion bulbs.

I'll try to take some pics tomorrow. I'm also hoping to buy some more stuff to plant but the pickins have seemed slim, sadly.

I'm scaling back too, but because I hope to not be here much longer!

This weekend, the neighbors kid weeded my overly weedy garden. About 1/5 of it is planted.

I think I'm going to go buy some started flowers to plant, as well as some veggie plants. I didn't do seeds at all this year. Built the greenhouse and didn't really use it.

I really need to take some pics of the stuff in my garden. Everything's coming along beautifully, with the exception of the carrots. Only a few little green sprouts have come up and they don't look very promising. Is there some trick to growing them? I've never had luck. This time I bought a "seed strip" to plant so I didn't have to fiddle with tiny seeds and hoped it would cut back on thinning so much but still......not much luck.

I haven't had much luck with carrots, but everyone says "Oh they are so easy" and "There's nothing to it." I think I got 4 carrots last year. They tasted great, but were few.

I think one of the tricks is to get really fresh seeds in a variety that is known to do well in your area. I also heard putting a little sand in the soil helps, but I could be wrong on that one.

I've now added tomatoes, okra, marigolds, and begonias (I think begonias might have been a bad idea, but I wanted a low maintenance filler plant.) I want eggplants and peppers, too.
